The Valley Crime Investigation Office team opened fire while arresting Sujan Shahi, who was involved in an incident in which a youth was attacked with a khukuri in Kirtipur.
The situation arose after the team that went to arrest the person involved in the incident on the basis of a special information was attacked.
'When they tried to attack the police while taking control, two rounds of air fire were fired initially,' he told Kantipur. 'Even after that, one bullet hit him in the leg.'
He said that the police were taking Shahi to the hospital.
A youth named Bipin Ghimire was killed by a sharp weapon in Bodetol, Kirtipur Municipality-10, on April 23 at 2:30 pm.
Police say the incident occurred after a dispute between friends over a minor dispute. Mahendra Shah, Rabindra Dhami and Roshan Bista, who were involved in the incident, had already been arrested.
