The District Post Office in Bhaktapur has started delivering passports to the doorsteps of service recipients.
The District Administration Office, Bhaktapur and the District Post Office have signed an agreement to deliver passports to the doorsteps, and the 'People's Doorstep Service' has come into operation. Now, service recipients who want to get passports are no longer required to visit the District Administration Office.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that under the government service reform program approved by the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, arrangements have been made to deliver passports to the doorsteps of the people from the Post Office.
He said that the doorstep service has been introduced to make passport distribution easy, fast and technology-friendly and to end the obligation for service recipients to come to the District Administration Office.
District Post Office Chief Sita Samba said that the agreement has been implemented and that a post office employee will be at the District Administration Office from Wednesday to fill out the forms. As per the rules, the service recipient will have to bear the postal charges of Rs. 55 for this service.
