The Lingo has been cast on the fifth day of the Biscay Jatra.

The Yasindyo (lingo) was raised at Lysingkhel in Bhelukhel at 8:30 pm on Monday and was lowered at 6 pm on Tuesday after performing Tantric rituals.

Before erecting the Yasindyo, it is customary to tie two flags symbolizing the serpent and the serpentine to the top of the lingo and pull it with eight ropes symbolizing the eight matrika. The Lingo was erected with the same eight ropes at the eight corners.

The Yasindyo raising and lowering ceremony is the main festival of Bisket. It is said that the Malla kings started the tradition of celebrating the festival for eight nights and nine days by adding Tantric rituals to the chariot procession of Bhairavnath and Bhadrakali.

After the Yesindyo is demolished, the chariot of Bhairavnath is brought from Lyosingkhel to Gahithi and the chariots of Bhairavnath and Bhadrakali are made to fight. Before the chariot fight in the festival, there is a tradition of bringing the Betaal deity to Gahithi and sacrificing a chicken through the window and then fighting the chariots.

Immediately after that, there is a tradition of making the chariots of Bhairavnath and Bhadrakali fight against each other in Khalan Tole. There is also a Jatra of Dumaju Devi at night. The main aspect of the Bisket Jatra is the raising and lowering of the Lingo.

It is customary to raise the Lingo on the eve of the old year and to lower the Lingo on the eve of the new year. Tomorrow, on the sixth day of the festival, there will be a Sindoor Jatra in Madhyapur Thimi in the morning and a tongue piercing Jatra in the afternoon.
