Chhakka Bahadur Dhami of Humla runs a small hotel in Kapan. The motorcycle he bought 14 months ago was the mainstay of his business. However, a month ago, his motorcycle went missing from the Buddhist area. After the motorcycle went missing, the happiness on his face disappeared. However, today, the traffic police have not only returned his motorcycle, but have also brought happiness back to the entire family on New Year's Eve.

After finding and getting his vehicle back within a month of its disappearance, he said, "I never thought such news would come. It was like getting a New Year's gift," he said.

Pramananda Kumar Ramdas' experience is also similar. The motorcycle he bought 3 years ago, earning one rupee each by working as a bricklayer, was lost within two years. When the vehicle was found and returned a year after it was lost, he exchanged his happiness with the traffic police by feeding laddus.

This is the scene of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Baggikhana, handing over 50 motorcycles and scooters found from various places to their owners on Monday. Some of the rich people who came to collect the vehicles said that they felt like they had received a 'New Year's gift' from the traffic police, and some even fed the police laddus. Someone expressed their gratitude by offering them food.

According to the office, 50 vehicles stolen at different times were found and handed over. On the occasion, office chief SSP Nawaraj Adhikari urged vehicle owners to adopt security measures such as GPS connection and use of handle locks.

The traffic police has also formed a special team to control motorcycle and scooter theft incidents in the valley. A 4-member team led by Information Officer SP Naresh Subedi has intensified the search operation.

According to the office, 1,862 applications were received from Shrawan to Chaitra for missing vehicles. During this period, 457 vehicles were found, of which 394 have been returned to their respective owners. The remaining vehicles and the persons involved have been sent to the relevant police offices for necessary action.

Similarly, from the fiscal year 2080/081 to 2082/083, only 1,101 vehicles have been found out of 5,635 applications. According to statistics, only about 20 percent of the lost vehicles are found.
