The Social Welfare Council has locked 20 stalls and offices in the Bhrikutimandap complex for non-payment of rent. The offices of individuals and organizations that have been using stalls, booths and buildings in the Bhrikutimandap complex under the council but have not paid rent for a long time were locked on Monday.
According to Khagnath Regmi, head of the council's management department, the structures of 20 individuals and organizations that have not paid their arrears of rent have been locked. He clarified that the council's objective is not to remove anyone but only to recover the arrears. 'Our objective is not to remove anyone, but to collect the rent,' Regmi said, 'We were forced to lock them after the rent was not collected despite repeated requests.' According to him, the locks will be opened as soon as the rent is received.
