Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police has taken action against 101 drivers in a single day today as part of a special campaign called 'Surprise Checking'. Under the campaign, which was conducted at various locations in the valley, action was taken against those who were caught consuming alcohol and violating traffic rules.
In the process, action was taken against 5 drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol, 2 who were violating red lights, and 94 drivers who were not following lane discipline and violating other traffic rules, informed the spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.
He said, 'Driving under the influence of alcohol is against the law and is punishable. It puts the lives of the driver, passengers, and all road users at risk. Let's be careful while driving. Let's avoid premature deaths.'
He also urged passengers to immediately report the incident to the nearest police office, the traffic control room hotline number 103, and the police hotline number 100 if they suspect that the driver has consumed alcohol or drugs.
