The open Dhime Baja Competition 2082 was held on Saturday, organized by Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and in collaboration with Shri Raj Ganesh Dhime Khal.
A total of 37 Dhime Khals from various places including Kathmandu and Bhaktapur participated enthusiastically in the competition. The participating groups gave their best performances in the competition, which was organized with the aim of preserving and promoting traditional Newari cultural instruments.
According to the results of the competition, Shri Nas Bhairav Dhime Khal, Chandragiri, Kathmandu managed to win the first place. Similarly, Tathali Dhime Khal won the second place, while Sunstar Dhime Khal, Kirtipur won the third place. Naya Bazar Dhime Khal, Kirtipur has won the consolation prize. The first place winner was awarded a shield, medal and certificate along with a cash prize of 54,444, and the second place winner was awarded a shield, medal and certificate along with a cash prize of 25,444, the third prize was awarded a medal and certificate along with a cash prize of 15,444, and the consolation prize was awarded a shield and certificate along with a cash prize of 10,444. The jury also awarded a shield and certificate along with a cash prize of 5,444.
The jury selected Sana Bhaibahini Ko Koshi Inae Dhime Khal, Pobu, Madhyapur Thimi, in the selection of Chahan Cultural Group, Bhaktapur and Shri Raj Ganesh Dhime Khal.
The organizers believe that the program will make a significant contribution to the preservation of Dhime Baja culture and increase its appeal to the new generation.
