Bhaktapur Madhyapur Thimi Municipality launched the Madhyapur Destination on Saturday with the aim of promoting internal and external tourism. Mayor Surendra Shrestha said that the Madhyapur Destination was organized with the aim of providing information about the tangible and intangible heritage, costumes, traditional professions, local food and various festivals of the municipality. He also said that the municipality is working to make Madhyapur Thimi Municipality a tourist destination. He said that the municipality is working to preserve the arts and culture of the city by preserving heritage and promoting festivals. Inaugurating the program, Bagmati Province's Minister for Culture and Tourism Suresh Shrestha pledged that the provincial government would support tourism promotion within the municipality through various programs. Minister Shrestha also said that the provincial government's Council of Ministers has decided to allocate an annual budget of Rs 200,000 for the tongue-piercing festival of Madhyapur Thimi.

Today, various handicraft shops were also inaugurated on the hill leading from Shankhadhar Chowk to Balkumari Temple. Similarly, in collaboration with the Bhaktapur Cottage and Small Industries Association, the municipality has also organized a home-made products fair in the Dui Pokhari premises. As part of the campaign, a two-day local home-made products fair has been organized in Dui Pokhari today. 28 stalls have been set up at the fair to display home-made products and local dishes. A Dhimebaja competition has also been organized in the Dui Pokhari premises today.

Mayor Shrestha informed that 37 Dhime groups from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Kirtipur and Kavrepalanchok are participating in the competition.
