The sale, distribution and transportation of alcoholic beverages have been banned in Bhaktapur during the Biska Jatra. The District Administration Office has taken this decision to make the Jatra peaceful.
A meeting with the bodies concerned with the Jatra at the office today decided to ban the sale, distribution and transportation of alcoholic beverages during the Jatra.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that those who riot and fight during the Biska Jatra will be detained for the duration of the Jatra and a record of rioting will be included in the police report so that they will not be allowed to travel abroad.
The meeting has also directed to keep all the necessary equipment, peace and security, first aid, ambulances and fire engines ready for the Jatra.
Bhaktapur Police Station Chief SP Surya Bahadur Khadka said that 36 CCTV cameras and 3 drone cameras will be used to monitor the Jatra site.
