A leopard was rescued from the store of Machhapuchhre School in Kusunti Height, Lalitpur this morning. The rescue was carried out by a technical team of the Central Zoo in Jawalakhel.
The leopard was rescued by using a 'dart' with the help of a team from Satdobato Police, District Forest Office, Lalitpur, and Lalitpur Metropolitan Police. The estimated 10-year-old leopard weighing 60 kg was kept at the zoo's wildlife hospital for treatment, informed the Chief of the Central Zoo, Satyanarayan Sah. After the rescue, the leopard will be released in its natural habitat, he said.
The zoo has rescued 241 wild animals, birds, mammals, etc. in a year. Out of which, 57 wild animals, birds, mammals have been treated and released in their natural habitat. The zoo currently has more than 1,300 wild animals of 115 species.
