Police have taken into custody a person with 50 sacks of betel nuts for customs fraud without invoices.
A large quantity of betel nuts without bills was found during an inspection by police deployed from Police Circle Swayambhu on the road section at Sitapaila, Nagarjuna Municipality-4.
50 sacks of betel nuts were recovered from a vehicle bearing the number B.P. 02-025 Cha 0397 driven by Ramsharan Bisunke, 22, of Galchhi Rural Municipality-2, Dhading, informed SSP Ramesh Thapa, Chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu. According to him, the weight of the betel nuts found in the 50 sacks is 1,000 kilograms. The market value of which is equivalent to 4 lakhs.
The seized goods and the person concerned have been sent to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office, Gauchar, for necessary action, informed SSP Thapa.
