The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has taken action against LG Glucose Packaging, which is operating without permission.

The department has banned LG Glucose Packaging as an action. The department has said that it took the action during the monitoring and inspection conducted under the Rapid Response Modality based on a complaint filed on 25th Magh.

‘During the monitoring, glucose packaging was found to be taking place in a room,’ said Dr. Balkumari Sharma, spokesperson of the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, ‘Samples have also been collected and tested. For the time being, the glucose has been stopped with instructions not to sell and distribute it.’

According to Sharma, glucose was being packed under the name of LG Glucose Packaging from Chandragiri Municipality-15, Kathmandu. The department has stopped 400 kg of glucose produced without a license as per Section (35) of the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081 with instructions not to sell and distribute it as per Section (35) of the same Act. In addition, the department has taken glucose for laboratory testing. The department has said that it has intensified monitoring against activities of production, sale and distribution in the market without permission.
