75 juvenile offenders from the Sanothimi Juvenile Correctional Home in Bhaktapur have been transferred to the Khampa Camp at the Central Jail in Nuwakot. Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that they will be kept there with the same services and facilities as those of the Juvenile Correctional Home.
They were transferred on Sunday morning.
After the clash, arson and vandalism at the Sanothimi Children's Correctional Home in Bhaktapur on the night of Magh 20, all the juvenile offenders were kept in various prisons in the valley.
Of these, 75 people above the age of 18 have been transferred to the prison in Nawakot, informed Bhaktapur Chief District Officer Dhakal. One person above the age of 18 is undergoing treatment and will be sent to Nuwakot later.
Discussions are underway to transfer the remaining 71 juvenile offenders under the age of 18 to Hetauda or Birgunj, informed Chief District Officer Dhakal.
26 girls from the juvenile correctional home will be kept in the Sanothimi correctional home, informed Surya Bahadur Khadka, Chief Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Bhaktapur.
There was a clash at the Sanothimi Children's Correctional Home in Bhaktapur on the night of Magh 20. They had been beaten up and the reform home had been vandalized and set on fire. There have been fights and vandalism inside the reform home from time to time due to child molesters above the age of 18.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal also inspected the Sano Thimi-based reform home on Sunday.
