What you should know

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Higher and Secondary Education Association of Nepal (HISAN) and the Tribhuvan University Lions Blood Circulation and Research Center (TULBTRC) with the aim of expanding mutual cooperation.

The MoU was signed at a program organized at the Capital College and Research Center in Kathmandu on Friday. On behalf of the center, President Dr. Rajendra Giri and on behalf of HISAN, President Yubaraj Sharma signed the MoU.

The program was attended by President Sharma, Vice President Harichandra Lamichhane, General Secretary Ramhari Silwal and other office bearers from HISAN. Similarly, on behalf of the center, President Dr. Giri and former President Rudrahari Gyawali, Executive Committee Member Kishor Bhattarai, Medical Director Dr. Bipin Nepal, and Acting General Manager Komal Adhikari were present.

The MoU covers the issues of conducting regular, planned and sustainable blood donation programs in educational institutions affiliated with HISAN, organizing awareness and sensitization programs related to blood circulation, and involving students in volunteer social work and on-the-job training programs.

Similarly, the agreement also mentions the provision that the center will take full responsibility for the technical manpower, materials, blood collection, testing, transportation and management required for the operation of the blood donation program.

A joint blood donation program was also held at CCRC College on the day the agreement was signed. The center stated in a press release that 91 blood donors voluntarily donated blood at the program.

The day before the blood donation, the college's student clubs had called for blood donation through a rally involving the local community. The agreement will be valid for three years.

In the coming days, both organizations have expressed their commitment to ensure safe, regular and quality blood supply by expanding cooperation in education, health, research, financial assistance and social sectors.
