Pulukisi dance, which has historical and cultural significance, is being performed at Nagdesh in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur. The dance is performed based on the legend of Nawaraj, a character based on the Sri Swasthani folk tale, who was crowned king by an elephant with a garland of flowers.

This year, local Janish Bade performed this dance as the Navaraj on Pulukisi.

Similarly, the dance's Nagchah includes Shrijal Bade, while the Saheli duo includes Charbhi Bade and Deepsa Up. This dance, traditionally performed to the rhythm of the baja, is performed by the Navaraj after bringing Lord Madhav Narayan to the courtyard of the Shri Siddhi Ganesh Temple in Lachhi, Nagdesh and making him sit there.

After the puja was over, the city was paraded around with a Pulukisi dance performance in the evening.
