139 people donated blood during Traffic Week

A blood donation program was completed on Friday as part of Traffic Week, organized by the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office with the aim of reducing traffic accidents.

SP Naresh Raj Subedi, the office's information officer, informed that 139 people, including 11 women, donated blood at the program organized at the Bagikhana Valley Traffic Police Office. According to him, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Metropolitan Police and the general public participated in the program.

Various awareness programs will be held under the Traffic Week that will run until Magh 3. These include teaching pedestrians how to cross the road safely, an awareness program targeting two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles and scooters), pasting awareness stickers on vehicles, and providing traffic education to school and college students.

The campaign will include the inauguration of traffic lights, a tea program with drivers, a health check-up camp including a one-day eye exam for drivers, road cleaning, tree pruning, and mechanical and pollution tests of vehicles.

Similarly, SP Subedi informed that traffic police personnel will be given special training on conduct, behavior, and precautions to be taken during duty.

Surprise joint inspections will be conducted at accident-prone areas in the Valley, and a musical program will be conducted at major intersections and junctions to highlight the causes and consequences of accidents.

It is stated that publicity and awareness-raising materials will be published about the Traffic Week program through social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.
