It has been revealed that 48 of those arrested in Kathmandu during the Gen-G protests held on Bhadra 23 and 24 have criminal backgrounds.

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, out of the 298 people arrested and registered cases by the range, 48 are defendants who have already been arrested and registered for various criminal acts.

The police are investigating 4 of them for manslaughter, 29 for criminal nuisance, 4 for theft, 4 for indecent assault, 7 for weapons and 1 for murder. One of them is under investigation for both criminal nuisance and theft.

It has been found that cases of murder, indecent assault, criminal nuisance, public offense, forgery, banking offense, drugs, assault and mutilation, theft and fraud have been registered against them before, Superintendent of Police Bhattarai informed.

During the protests on Bhadra 24, 97 police offices, including the Parliament Building, Singha Durbar, and the Supreme Court, were vandalized, looted, and set on fire. 76 people, including 3 police officers, were killed in the process.
