The Tamang Journalists Association has celebrated its 22nd founding anniversary. The association celebrated its founding anniversary by honoring journalists, holding interactions, and organizing blood donation programs in Kathmandu on Sunday.
In the program, Sunil Lama Dong, the owner of Mhendola Phole, was awarded the 'Rabindra Tamang Journalism Award-2082', Anju Dimdong Tamang, the editor and managing director of Global Media, was awarded the 'Dipendra Dong Memorial Journalism Award-2082', and Birbal Tamang, the editor and presenter of the 'Tamang Tamshor' program broadcast on Nepal Television, was awarded the 'Taman Matrubhasa Journalism Award-2082'.
The 'Rabindra Tamang Journalism Award' established by the founding president of the association, Rabindra Tamang, carries a value of 15 thousand rupees. The award established in memory of the founding secretary, the late Dipendra Dong Tamang, and the Tamang Matrubhasa Journalism Award each carry a value of 10 thousand rupees.
Similarly, dramatist and media personality Shanti Waiba Tamang has been honored with the 'Kalika Tamang Nari Pratibha-2082' worth 5 thousand rupees. The awardees were presented with cash prizes and certificates by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising, President of the Tamang Journalists Association Netra Tamang, and others. Addressing the
program, Energy Minister Ghising said that he was ready to cooperate with the Tamang Journalists Association. He said that the role of journalists would be important in getting the right person elected in the upcoming elections. 'The country is on the verge of change. Your (journalists) role is important in determining what kind of government and leadership the next government will have,' Minister Ghising said. 'Since the message you send to the general public will be important, I urge you to work in such a way that the right people are promoted in the elections.'
Vice President of the National Foundation for the Upliftment of Indigenous Peoples Resham Gurung, General Secretary of Nepal Tamang Ghedung Jagatman Dong, former President of the Association Rudrasingh Tamang, and others spoke about the role that the Tamang Journalists Association and journalists should play in the coming days.
President Netra Tamang said that the Tamang Journalists Association has matured in its 22-year journey and will move forward more effectively in the coming days.
In the second session of the program, founder and author Rabindra Tamang presented a working paper on 'Past of the Tamang Journalists Association, Current Status of Tamang Journalism'. President Tamang said that the full meeting of the central committee of the association and the blood donation program were completed on Sunday.
The Tamang Journalists Association was established on Mangsir 21, 2061. The association has been celebrating this day as its foundation day every year.
