The Yomari festival and competition, a traditional Newari dish, has concluded in Bhaktapur. 68 different groups exhibited various Yomari dishes at the Yomari festival and competition organized by Bhaktapur Municipality on Saturday at Dattatraya.
On that occasion, food and local product exhibitions were also held in various villages of Wards 8, 9 and 10 of Bhaktapur, while a cultural program was organized at Suryamadhi and traditional dances were performed.
Inaugurating the festival, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayanman Bijukchhe expressed his belief that the cultural activities organized by the municipality would make a significant contribution to the promotion of tourism in Bhaktapur.
NEMKIPA Bagmati Province MP Surendra Raj Gosain said that the Yomari festival highlighted the prosperity of Bhaktapur and said that Yomari is a symbol of prosperity, civilization, love, culture, joy and science.
Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati said that the municipality has organized the Yomari festival as a competition to promote internal and external tourism and has given everyone an opportunity to demonstrate their originality. He said that Bhaktapur Municipality is conducting studies/teaching through local curricula in all schools operating within the city with the aim of informing the new generation about the importance of its tangible and intangible heritage.
