'Smart street lighting' has been installed on the main roads within Tokha with 65 percent investment from Tokha Municipality and 35 percent from Nepal Electricity Authority.
The street lighting was inaugurated by the Mayor of the Municipality, Prakash Adhikari. Inaugurating the smart street lighting, Mayor Adhikari said that his commitment to build a bright Tokha has been fulfilled. According to him, street lighting has been installed from Samakhushi to Jhor, from Naya Bus Park to Bhatkeko Bridge, from South Western College to Dhapasi Heights, and from Dahalgauda to Greenland.
Tokha Municipality had signed an agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority on 24 Poush 2081 to install street lighting on the main roads within Tokha to make the transport system effective, maintain peace and security, and ensure the smooth functioning of social security and other services.
According to the agreement, it was mentioned that the municipality would bear 65 percent of the cost and the Authority would bear 35 percent of the cost for installing street lighting in Tokha. According to the agreement, Tokha Municipality will invest Rs 28.483 million and the Authority will invest Rs 15.337 million.
The agreement mentioned that the Authority will select the technology to install the street lights, complete the procurement work through bidding, and supervise the construction work.
If new smart street lights need to be installed on the poles attached to the solar and street lights owned by the municipality, the municipality will remove them at its own expense, the municipality will pay the remaining arrears due to the Authority for using the street lights as per the law, and the amount for using the street lights will be paid to the Authority on a monthly basis.
