What you should know

Nepal Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi on Friday inaugurated the 100th edition of the board's visual-dialogue campaign #PhotoNepal by creating artwork on canvas. The initiative is said to connect artists, photographers and audiences from Nepal and around the world through visuals, storytelling and cultural expression.

In collaboration with Sushma Art Gallery, the Board has organized the #PhotoNepal International Group Painting Exhibition at the Bhrikuti Mandap premises starting today and running till Sunday. This edition includes more than 45 Nepali artists, along with international participants from Russia, America, UK, Japan, India, Bangladesh and Ghana.

Their diverse artworks are based on Nepali culture, natural scenery, spirituality, urban change and contemporary times. This further contributes to establishing Nepal as an emerging hub of art tourism. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The Board is also operating a digital photo portal #PhotoNepal . Where pictures reflecting the beauty and diversity of Nepal can be uploaded and viewed. To date, the platform has over 25,000 photos from over 11,000 members, collectively capturing Nepal's natural landscapes, cultural heritage, communities and emotions.

The #PhotoNepal campaign, which began in February 2016 with a photography exhibition by renowned Swiss geologist Dr. Tony Hagen, has continued its campaign by presenting Nepal's natural, cultural and human dimensions to the world through regular exhibitions.
