Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan has urged people to use information technology to preserve the language.

He said this at a program organized by the metropolis today to congratulate and extend best wishes to the elected chairperson and office bearers of the 14th convention of the Nepali Language Manka Khala. He also urged everyone to work in collaboration and coordination with everyone, prioritizing the preservation of Nepali language and culture in an era where information technology is taking a leap.

'Manka Khala needs to select experts in the field of language and culture and work. Lalitpur metropolis is ready to provide any support to Manka Khala for the preservation and promotion of Nepali language,' said Mayor Maharjan, 'We will support so that there is no shortage in the budget. It is necessary to take effective steps to promote Nepali language using information technology.'

Stating that the main objective and responsibility of Manka Khala is to work by prioritizing language, culture and heritage, he said that the metropolis is ready to provide necessary support, coordination and collaboration for this.

Manka Khala Chairman Mahendralal Maharjan mentioned that the use of the Nepali language is becoming less common nowadays and pointed out the need to prioritize its use from his family. Stating that Manka Khala will make efforts to include the Newari language in the Public Service Commission exams, he said that the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the metropolis, is necessary for this.

Deputy Mayor of the metropolis Manjali Shakya Bajracharya said that the Nepali language Manka Khala will play an important role in the preservation of the Newari language. Informing that the metropolis has implemented a local curriculum for the preservation of language and culture, she emphasized the need to work on the preservation of the language and script as the Newari language is on the verge of extinction.
