Thirteen people have been arrested on charges of harassing tourists in Thamel.

SSP Ramesh Thapa said that they were arrested during a monitoring conducted by the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, along with officials of the Lainchaur and Thamel Tourism Development Councils. “The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has extended the remand of the arrested persons for four days for the offence of indecent behaviour,” he said.

According to the police, they were harassing domestic and foreign tourists unnecessarily, robbing them, and forcing them to engage in sexual activities.

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has granted permission to keep them in custody for four days for investigation.
