Owners of 33 motorcycles and 18 scooters taken into custody

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police have returned 51 stolen motorcycles and scooters to their respective owners from various locations in the Kathmandu Valley. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office handed over 33 motorcycles and 18 scooters to their owners on Thursday.
The vehicles were found in various places including Gongabu, New Bus Park, Balaju, Sitapaila, Ranibari, Bouddha, Balkumari, Koteshwor, Kandaghari, Putalisadak, Anamnagar, Singhadurbar, Maligaun, Gatthaghar, Lubhu, among others, during searches conducted by the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police based on the applications registered by them, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office. According to him, some of the vehicles found were used with fake number plates.
Out of the 91 vehicles found by the traffic police since Shrawan, 51 vehicles were jointly handed over by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office Om Prasad Adhikari and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Nawaraj Adhikari.
According to SP Subedi, in the fiscal year 2081/82, 503 And in 2080/81, the traffic police have handed over 417 stolen or lost two-wheelers to the owners.
Subedi also informed that 19 people have been taken into custody on charges of being involved in theft and sent to the relevant police agency for necessary action.
The traffic police have urged people to park in safe places, install wheel locks, chain locks, handle locks, disc locks and security sirens to prevent vehicle theft. The traffic police have also requested people not to park in secluded, less crowded places.
According to SP Subedi, if a vehicle is lost, information can be reported to the traffic police hotline 103 or Nepal Police 100 and the nearest police office.
