The Newar community of Bhaktapur celebrated the Sakimana Punhi festival on Wednesday. On the full moon day of Kartik, the Newar community celebrated this festival by worshipping Lord Narayan and Shiva from the morning and making pictures of various temples and deities from grains and nuts.
The local Daf Bhajan group in the village celebrated Kartik Shukla Purnima by exhibiting paintings made from roasted corn, soybeans, wheat and other grains. Known in the local language as Halimali, this festival is also celebrated with the custom of eating pindalu and sagarkhanda. Malpua and puri are also eaten as prasad.
It is also customary to worship the paintings displayed in the exhibition and sing bhajans. Since the school's local curriculum also teaches about this festival, the school also made the students observe paintings of gods and goddesses made from grains.
On this day, devotees of Bhaktapur go to visit temples such as Ashapuri Mahadev, Yatu Mahadev, Kedarnath's head Doleshwor Mahadev, Changunarayan, Ichangunarayan and others.
