The Nepal Tourism Board, as part of its regular visual-communication campaign #PhotoNepal, inaugurated a photo exhibition titled 'A Tale of Two Lands: Nepal Meets Sicily' on Monday morning amid a special ceremony organized at the Tourism Board premises in Bhrikuti Mandap.
The exhibition was inaugurated under the chief guestship of senior photojournalist Gopal Chitrakar. The program was attended by Hikmat Singh Iyer, Acting CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, and Dwarika Kafle, President of Photojournalist Club.
Sudhan Subedi, Senior Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, PhotoNepal Campaign Coordinator, informed the program that '#PhotoNepal' is a visual campaign launched in 2016, whose objective is to introduce the diverse cultural, natural and human beauty of Nepal to the world through photography.
Senior photojournalist Gopal Chitrakar, speaking after the inauguration, said that he was happy to see the Nepal Tourism Board promoting photography as a cultural diplomacy of the country. Dwarika Kafle, President of Photojournalist Club, said that such exhibitions will give more energy and inspiration to the creative efforts of photographers.
Similarly, Acting CEO Hikmat Singh Iyer said that such efforts are an effective means to present Nepal's cultural and religious diversity in the international context and the board will cooperate with all photographers in such campaigns.
Italian photographer Valentina Brancaforte said that she has a close relationship with Nepal and that Nepal is a paradise for photography. 25 photos taken by her that reflect the diversity of Nepal and Italy are on display in this exhibition, which can be viewed free of charge at the Board premises in Bhrikutimandap from 10 am to 3:30 pm until Wednesday.
‘A Tale of Two Lands’ exhibition attempts to connect the similarities between the religious and cultural festivals of Nepal and Sicily through photography. Presenting the power of faith, cultural vitality and the beauty of collective celebrations through visual storytelling, it highlights the common human connection between the two lands.
