There are a large number of police in uniform inside the Dharamshala. The crowd of people is also not small. Some have come to the Dharamshala to seek shelter, while others have come to meet the police with their complaints. Some police are resting in the Dharamshala.
After the police circle Gaushala building near the Pashupati entrance was set on fire during the protest on Bhadra 24, the police here are providing services from Dharamshala. After the fire, the police have started immediate necessary work by setting up a temporary help room in front of the building. The police are now hearing complaints, registering and carrying out regular work from within the Dharamshala. Due to lack of space, the police take the arrested person directly from here to the Kathmandu Police Complex.
The auxiliary structures adjacent to the main building of the circle have also been damaged, and reconstruction work is currently underway. After the main building technician concluded that it can be reinforced and used, the cost is high, so the repairs are starting with the help of locals.
On the day of the arson, the police had made a lot of efforts to save this structure. Despite trying to remind the crowd by miking and requesting them not to vandalize, one of the police here was injured when the crowd became aggressive. The protesters not only pelted stones and set fire to the police and the police circle, but also looted the police's weapons. After the aggressive crowd of protesters could not be controlled, the police left the circle and temporarily stayed inside the airport. However, they returned after some time and are engaged in public service.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Shrimal says that temporary shelters are currently being constructed with the help of various organizations. 'We are currently providing services to the citizens from Dharamshala,' he said, 'but the environment in Dharamshala is not suitable for the barracks system. It has become difficult for the police to work on duty. We hope that this situation will improve soon.'
According to him, the construction of temporary shelters has now been accelerated in the circle. Preparations are being made to operate services from here within a week. While staying in Dharamshala, it has been difficult for the police to ensure the security and confidentiality of their materials. 'We are in one room, and the public in the other. "It is difficult to keep your belongings and files safe," a police officer told Kantipur. "It has become difficult for the police to provide services as computers and other equipment have been burnt in the fire." "We have limited resources and equipment. After the building was damaged, record management has also become a challenge," said a police officer. "Unable to keep files safe has caused inconvenience in conducting work."
The condition of 18 police offices in the Kathmandu Valley, which were damaged due to the Gen-G movement and the situation that arose after it, is still pitiful. They have not been able to start services from their old offices. Some are providing services from ward offices, some from public buildings, and some from the burned offices at great risk.
