Kathmandu Metropolitan City has reversed its decision to demolish the Traffic Police Division office in Thapathali after the District Administration Office intervened.

The Metropolitan City had given information on Saturday evening and asked to vacate the traffic police office. After that, there was confusion about what to do with the office where about a hundred police officers are staying. ‘The traffic police have been staying there since 2030, it is the land of the Guthi,’ says SSP Nawaraj Adhikari, the chief of the Valley Traffic Police.

After preparing to remove the traffic police, the officials also discussed with Chief District Officer Ishwar Raj Poudel. After that, the administration wrote a letter to the Metropolitan City saying that it would not remove the police immediately. ‘The letter was sent from the District Administration Office, after that it has been stopped now,’ said Valley Police Chief AIG Dan Bahadur Karki, ‘So far, the police have no other option.’

The Metropolitan City had also used a dozer on another house on Friday, saying that an unauthorized structure had been built near this traffic police office. The Metropolitan City has also given an ‘ultimatum’ to vacate the unauthorized structures in other places in Thapathali within 7 days.
