On the occasion of the 70th Police Day 2082, awards and honors were given to police personnel who have performed excellent work in various fields and those who have supported the police.

At a program organized at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, on Friday, Deputy Inspector of Police Hem Bahadur BK, working in Police Circle Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and Police Constable Sangita Adhikari, working in District Court Coordination and Security Police Unit, Dang, who received special promotions, were presented with rank insignia. They were specially promoted to the 1st level on the recommendation of the Policy Making Committee after highly appreciating their indomitable courage and excellent work performance while performing their duties.  On the same occasion of

day, Police Inspector Prakash Thapa, Police Inspector Achyut Giri, Police Inspector Ravi Ghimire, Police Inspector Saraswati Karki, Police Senior Deputy Inspector Lekhnath Acharya, Police Senior Deputy Inspector Ramesh Karki, Police Deputy Inspector Padam Sherpa, Police Assistant Inspector Amir Shrestha and Police Assistant Constable Kumar Basnet were presented with commendations in various categories of excellent investigators. Police Inspector Rajesh Silwal was awarded the Best Traffic Police Award, Police Deputy Inspector Ashok Karki was awarded the Best Community Police Award, Police Inspector Prashant Shrestha and Police Assistant Inspector Gyan Bahadur Khadka were awarded the Best Police Office Management Award, and Superintendent of Police Basudev Pathak was awarded the Best Professional Conduct Award.

Similarly, those awarded for the best disaster management work were Police Inspector Sanjeeb Bogati, Police Assistant Inspector Uttam Bahadur Bhujel, Police Assistant Inspector Deepak Pun, Police Constable Akhtar Miya and Police Constable Roshana Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Kumar Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet, Police Inspector Sher Bahadur Basnet, Police Inspector Ajay Jung Thapa, Senior Deputy Inspector of Police Vijay Raj Khanal, Deputy Inspector of Police Gaurav Kumar Das and Police Assistant Constable Deepak Rai.

Police Inspector Jamuna Joshi, Police Constable Ganesh Rana Magar and Police Constable Durga Thapa were awarded the Best Internal and External Trainer award, while Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Ashish Dutt, Superintendent of Police Hari Dangol, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Singh Dhami, Police Inspector E. Ritosh Raya, Senior Deputy Inspector of Police Shanti Shakya, Deputy Inspector of Police Santosh Lama, Assistant Inspector of Police Ram Bahadur Pariyar (Damai), Assistant Inspector of Police Bidya Ghale, Police Constable Bharat Kunwar and Assistant Inspector of Police Sujan Karki were also awarded the Best Police Sports Trainer/Player award. 

Police Constable Shantikala Tamang received the Best Police School Teacher award, while Sagar Karki, working at Nepal Police School Dharan Sunsari, received the  certificate. Two lifelong members of the Nepal Police Memorial Guthi, along with Dronjung Shrestha of Narephant, Kathmandu, who supported the work, operations and investigations of the Nepal Police, were also presented with certificates of appreciation. Rajeshman KC of Bhaktapur Gatthaghar and Senior Deputy Inspector of Police Bishnu Thapa were awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for the best article on the Nepal Police.

Toran Karki of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-6, Morang, and Samanta Bhadra Thapa of Pakhribas-8, Dhankuta, who provided free land to the Nepal Police, were presented with certificates of appreciation. The police also honored organizations and the general public who provided significant support to the police in the construction of physical infrastructure and other facilities.

Addressing the award distribution ceremony, Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung said that since its inception, the Nepal Police has been committed to promoting people-oriented police services in accordance with the principles of the rule of law and ensuring security for the general public.

Stating that the trust of the general public in the police organization is a source of energy, strength and morale for the police organization, he stressed that all members of the organization should be aware of the fact that trust in the police can only be increased through citizen-centered, transparent, clean, fast, effective and service-receiver-friendly service delivery, so there should be no delay in addressing complaints and grievances. 

Inspector General of Police Khapung said that the fact that the citizens have strong trust and affection for the Nepal Police is confirmed by the support received from the general public in the physical development of the Nepal Police, and said that all police personnel should focus on citizen-friendly service delivery by maintaining this love, trust and confidence.  He also directed to always be vigilant in protecting the constitutional rights of the general public by keeping the implementation of prevailing laws and the protection and promotion of human rights as a high priority. 

The tribute program organized to pay tribute to the immortal police officers organized on the occasion of the 70th Police Day was inaugurated by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. The event was attended by Additional Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, senior police officers, invited dignitaries, and police officers and personnel.
