Kathmandu police arrested 44 people on Thursday for being involved in illegal activities and unwanted activities.

According to the spokesperson of District Police Complex Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, those people who came out on the streets in the name of agitation and demonstration without giving any information to the District Administration Office were detained. The police is collecting information about the arrested persons and conducting further investigation. 

District Administration Office Kathmandu, while the petition given by the NTech-Z group to perform at Maitighar Mandla is under consideration, the organizers have suspended the program themselves, with the suspicion that other groups will take to the streets in the name of it  Security was tightened in Kathmandu.

The district administration office and the police administration became alert in case of recurrence of incidents like intrusion, hulhujjat, vandalism of government property and arson during the Gen-G movement on August 23 and 24. 

"For the past few days, the issue of agitation has been going on in social media by presenting old issues in an exaggerated manner," Spokesman Bhattarai said, "During the Gen-G agitation on 23rd and 24th of Bhadra and the subsequent incidents of infiltration, arson, and vandalism by lawless elements, there is a risk of reoccurrence of incidents of infiltration, arson, and vandalism, there is a risk of a challenge to the safety of the lives of the common people, and there is a risk of criminal activity. Security arrangements have been tightened in Kathmandu area. .'

According to him, the police had increased security in Maitighar Mandla area, seeing that there could be competition or conflict between the sides or opposition of the movement. In this regard, the Ministry of Home Affairs had also requested not to do/not to do any unwanted activities.
