The work of the Yama Buddha Skateboard Park being built by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been completed by 50 percent. Mayor Balendra Shah said through the social network Facebook that after 3 years of struggle, the dream of skateboarding has come true.

Our first goal since becoming mayor was to make Kathmandu a city for everyone. We started the Yama Buddha Skateboard Park in the plan to create a city according to the wishes of the youth along with the work of preserving the heritage," he wrote on Facebook. Mayor Shah informed that the park is not only a place to play, but also a place to express the culture of the youth, encourage art and music, and is being built as a family-friendly space.

Kathmandu-5 Ward President Birendra Prajapati said that the complete work of the under-construction skateboard will be completed within 3 months. President Birendra said that they are building this skateboard park on public land that private individuals have usurped. "We came to know that this is government land after looking at the papers at the land surveyor and land office. We demolished the structures there because the government land should be vacated,'' he said. And we talked about not continuing the process. 13 out of the reclaimed land is being built in a skateboard park in Ropani. '

According to Prajapati, the plan was to make this skateboard in Ward 16 by the Municipal Executive. The tender process went ahead. However, due to land disputes, the work could not proceed. Mayor Shah mentioned on Facebook that after the death of the then ward president late Mukund Rizal, he could not get land to build a park at that place. Even after trying three times, the Nepalese government could not give the land, so the work started in Ward 5. There was talk of building a park in Ward No. 31 from the Executive. However, it could not be made even there. After that, I went with a proposal that there is public land in Ward 5 to build a park there. Now this park is being built here after being approved by the executive, said President Prajapati.

President Prajapati Kathmandu Metropolitan City, because there is no suitable place for children to play in this way, they are making this park targeted. They hold the view that it has been done. "We have taken the land that has gone to the name of an individual for the benefit of the ward residents," he said.

According to Jeevan Bista, assistant director and engineer of the public works department of the metropolitan city, this park will be completed after Tihar.  In the meantime, it took a lot of time to prepare for making skateboards on other lands. The work of clearing the place where the structure will be made has been completed. Right now, the work of building the block is going on from the digging of the hole. We have made the base of the skateboard. Now other structures are also being built," said Engineer Bisht,  Now if the work of raising the structure is done, the complete structure will be built after Tihar. '

' Along with skateboards, playgrounds for children, open gyms, toilet blocks and volleyball courts will be built here. According to Engineer Bisht, the toilet block is almost completed now. An office block is also being built. '
