In Makwanpurgarhi, husband Manav Bahadur has surrendered at the police office after strangling his wife Durgalakshmi at his in-laws' house.

Imprisoned for killing his wife

District Court Makwanpur has issued an order to keep the husband arrested for strangling his sick wife at his in-laws' house. The bench of District Judge Purnima Koirala on Thursday ordered the detention of 45-year-old Manav Bahadur Shivbhakti of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-1 on the charge of killing 40-year-old Durgalakshmi Shivbhakti.

On July 17, Shiv Bhakti went to his in-laws house in Makwanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-5 Vungdol and strangled his wife Durgalakshmi to death when there was no one at home. After the murder of his wife, Manav Bahadur himself came to the district police office Hetouda and informed that he had killed his wife. He used to visit his in-laws from time to time.

Durgalakshmi was living with her two sons. Manav Bahadur used to visit his in-laws from time to time. Durga Lakshmi was living in Maita due to paralysis for the past 2 years. Manav Bahadur's in-laws used to come to meet him and his sons. He had come to his in-laws house only 2 days before killing his wife.

When the police took a statement from Manav Bahadur, they said that his wife was suffering from paralysis for a long time and was unable to walk.

After his murder, he said that he came in contact with the police after trying to commit suicide by hanging himself. When trying to commit suicide by tying a rope to the wood of the second floor of the in-laws house, the rope snapped.
