Kathmandu police have arrested Gopal Moktan, known as gangster Nike Race Lama. The team of Gaushala police circle arrested him on the charge of behaving indecently with a person in a restaurant in Battisputli while carrying out a hooliganism in Gaushala area on Sunday.
Earlier, Moktan was arrested in the controversial incident of cutting a cake with a sword. Later he escaped but was again arrested by the police saying that he was involved in gangsterism. The police have taken a 4-day deadline from the Kathmandu District Court for further investigation against Moktan.
Kathmandu Police has been conducting a special campaign against people involved in gangsterism in recent days. Under this, Milan Gurung alias Chakra Milan and Rajendra Bahadur Gorkhali alias Raju Gorkhali on August 1 were also arrested.
Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Bishwa Adhikari said that to maintain peace and order, the priority is to bring those who run and try to run gangsterism to the legal sphere.
According to him, District Police Complex Kathmandu has arrested 5 thousand 585 fugitive accused persons through the execution campaign in fiscal year 2081/82.
