Former minister and former mayor Buddhiraj Bajracharya passed away

Buddhiraj Bajracharya, former minister and head of Lalitpur municipality at the time, passed away.

According to the information given by Chiribabu Maharjan, head of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality, he died at the age of 89 at the Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital on Saturday.

'The body of late Bajracharya is now kept in Maharajgunj hospital, his youngest son will be cremated tomorrow after he returns from abroad,' said Metropolitan Chief Maharjan.

Bajracharya, who was appointed as the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation during the direct rule of King Gyanendra in 2061, before that he became the mayor of Lalitpur in 060. In 027, he served as the then Ward President of Lalitpur Panchayat 17, and in 2032 he became the Pradhan Panch of Lalitpur for the first time. After democracy came in 046, he became the mayor of Lalitpur from UML in 054.
