The Supreme Court Bar Association Legal Practitioners Women Committee has expressed grief over the death of 30-year-old Kamala Auji of Kanchanpur Krishnapur Municipality-1 Nigali due to snake bite in her neighborhood.
The committee issued a press release on Tuesday and said that they were shocked by the heartbreaking incident of Kamala's death due to snakebite. The
committee stated that Auji's death was a serious consequence of the continuous neglect and insensitivity towards the Nepali society, the state and the law. Even after 7 years of implementation of the law, it has not been effectively implemented and due to the indifference of the state machinery, such malpractices still exist. The
committee has demanded action against the culprits involved in the incident. Similarly, the committee has emphasized that it is necessary for all the stakeholders to be active to destroy not only the slums, but also the superstitions, discrimination and inhuman customs created in people.
The committee has also demanded from the government the effective implementation of the right to dignified life, equality and women's rights guaranteed by the constitution.
