Inspector General of Nepal Police Deepak Thapa has said that there is a big problem of drug addiction in Kathmandu Valley.

He said that the unity of all is necessary for drug control. He said this while speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Kathmandu on Thursday.

He said that drug trafficking is increasing in Kathmandu Valley. In view of that, Nepal Police said that the Kathmandu Valley Police Office is strongly promoting the campaign of drug prevention and control throughout the Kathmandu Valley.

He said that all municipalities, all levels and schools are moving forward with an awareness program in the campaign against drugs. He said that it is necessary to plan how to control the demand and supply of drugs. Nepal Police informed that they have seized 65 percent of marijuana, 77 percent of opium, 79 percent of heroin, and 53 percent of other medicinal drugs by May of the current financial year. 

He said, 'Drug trafficking is increasing in Kathmandu Valley. At present, the Kathmandu Valley Police Office is carrying out the drug prevention and control campaign in a strong manner throughout the Kathmandu Valley. We are carrying awareness programs in all municipalities, sub-districts and school levels in the campaign against drugs. If everyone is united, we can control drug addiction. We need to plan how to control supply and demand. Nepal Police seized 65 percent of marijuana, 77 percent of opium, 79 percent of heroin, and 53 percent of other medicinal drugs by the month of May of the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year. He said that productive and creative young manpower will be lost if everyone is not united in time for the control and prevention of drugs.
