Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has said that the responsibility of protecting the environment is a shared responsibility of everyone.

Speaking at the tree planting program organized by Kathmandu Valley Development Authority on Friday at Gekarneshwar 5, Bagmati Corridor, he said that everyone's role in environmental protection is important.

He said that since the day he took over the ministry, he has been interested in making the Bagmati river clean and flowing.

'Sarka does what needs to be done politically. However, it is not that others will do the work of raising trees after planting. The local community should take care not to uproot trees and mix them randomly in the river,' he said.

The present budget also informed that priority has been given in the budget to clean the valley river and upgrade the Karidaer road. The Ministry of Urban Development has allocated 3 billion 42 crores to clean the rivers of the valley including the Bagmati.
