2 arrested for stealing red panda from zoo and trying to escape

Two people have been arrested for trying to steal a rare animal Red Panda (Habre) from Sadar Zoo in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. Police have arrested Krishna Gurung and Mohammad Tafiq from Swayambhu for their involvement in the incident.

The police arrived at the scene and started investigation after receiving information about an attempt to steal a red panda from the zoo at around 10 pm on May 30th. The police recovered some materials such as screwdrivers, bags containing red pandas, and shoes from the scene.

During the investigation, it has been revealed that a person named Mohammad Tafiq, who lives in the Swayambhu area of ​​Kathmandu along with two citizens of India, visits the zoo frequently and takes information about the places, windows and doors that cannot be seen by CCTV cameras. 

2 arrested for stealing red panda from zoo and trying to escape The staff found out when the red panda screamed when they tried to leave the zoo in a bag. Then they ran away leaving Red Panda in Nigalo Ghari. According to the police, a case has been registered against them on the charge of theft industry and further investigation is being conducted after receiving a 5-day deadline from the court.

IUCN put the red panda on the endangered list  It is placed in Schedule 1 under the Convention on Sites. Various researches have shown that this creature that eats bamboo leaves also eats small insects and eggs.
