A four-day Model United Nations exercise program has started from Wednesday organized by the National Youth Council.

Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh inaugurated the program organized with the aim of developing the leadership of youth through the practice of the United Nations at the Nepal Administrative Training Institute in Jawalakhel. Addressing the program, Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that the practice of Model United Nations will help Nepali youth in international diplomacy and leadership development. He also said that the government is preparing to bring a budget with emphasis on youth entrepreneurship. 

Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Choudhary said that the Model United Nations exercise will help in the development of multifaceted abilities of the youth. He emphasized that the youth should develop leadership, self-esteem, entrepreneurship, self-earning and start-up to become good citizens.

The Executive Vice President of the National Youth Council, Surendra Basnet, said that the program was organized with the aim of training young people on UN practices, sustainable development goals, diplomatic dimensions, common international issues, climate change, human rights, security council, etc. 

Kyoko Yokosuka, resident representative of the United Nations Development Program on behalf of the United Nations Resident Office in Nepal, said that it is very important for Nepali youth to understand United Nations practices. He said that the young generation can play an important role in maintaining world peace and harmony.

model practice. Sanjiv Bhattarai, president of the co-organizer Global Help Foundation, said that 100 young people in the age group of 16-24, selected from 75 districts across the country, are participating in the program that will last until May 17.
