One person died in a fire in a house at Mahadev Chowk in Makhantol, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24 on Wednesday morning.

According to spokesperson of District Police Complex Kathmandu, SP Appelraj Bohra, the fire broke out due to gas leak in the house of Dayaram Shrestha.

The identity of the woman who died in the fire has yet to be ascertained. The five-storey house of Rukesh Shrestha, next to Shrestha's house where the fire took place, has also caught fire. 

Nepal Army, Armed Police, Nepal Police and Metropolitan Police have been deployed to extinguish the fire.
