Jesum Yatra in Madhyapur

The latest series of the 'Jesum Yatra' campaign launched with the aim of spreading positivity in the society by highlighting the local culture and heritage through creative expression has been completed in Madhyapur Thimi, the historical city of Bhaktapur. This campaign, which was started seven years ago by a group of independent creators, is moving forward by promoting Nepali original culture through paintings, literature and acting.

A group of writers, journalists, painters and culture lovers gathered at Shankhadhar Sakhwa Chowk in Madhyapur Thimi at 8 o'clock on Monday morning and observed the major heritage sites of Thimi. They imbibed the history and culture by visiting heritage sites such as Balkumari Mandir, Lokeshwar, Laiku Durbar, Nigupukhu (two ponds), Digu Bhairav, Siddhikali, Chapacho, Tikijhya of Nagesh (Golden Eye Window), Siddiganesh, Paleswan Pukhu (lotus pond) of Bode, Pancho Ganesha.

Madan Sundar Shrestha, the former mayor of Thimi and Gyanram Shrestha, president of the National Vibhuti Shankhadhar Sakhwa Foundation, played the role of guides by informing the creators about the history of the heritage, the tradition of Jatra and the importance of culture. On reaching the Kumari Mandir Park, painters painted Thimi's cultural scenes on canvas, while writers painted poems.

Anita Lama, the poet and deputy mayor of Budhanilkanth Municipality, the creator and coordinator of Jesum Yatra, said, "Looking at the interior of Thimi, I feel like I have stepped into a historical period." Lama wrote poetry on the fusion of Buddhist and Newar civilizations. She said that she took Jesum Yatra as a social responsibility.

President of Press Council Nepal and founder of Jesum Yatra Balkrishna Basnet also wrote a poem influenced by Thimi's heritage. Following him, Sneh Saimy, Ramgopal Ashutosh, Asmita Manandhar, Phoolman Val, Ghanshyam Khadka, Dipendra Banepali, Rajni Mila, Gyanram Shrestha, Buddhikrishna Vaga: Shrestha and others recited their works.

Painter Chandra Shrestha drew a picture with the temple in the background, while Dipendraman Banepali rendered the poem 'Chashma and Eyes' by poet Sneh Saimy visually. Mithila painter Saritadevi Mandal painted the folk life and agricultural traditions of Thimi in Mithila style.

Former mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said, "I had heard about Jessum Yatra many times, today I was able to participate. This campaign is really inspiring. We are preparing to release a book containing all the creations of today."

According to Basnet, the founder of Jesum Yatra, this campaign started from Thousand Stairs in Dhulikhel of Kavre and reached Thimi via Nagarkot, Dhankuta, Budhanilkanth, Chandragiri, Anant Lingeshwar. He said, "This campaign, which carries the message of cultural renaissance and positivity, is an important step towards building Nepali national culture." Creators like Lakshmi Mali, Shashi Lumumbu, Anant Wagle, Jayanthi Spandan, Kalpana Shrestha, Nandu Upreti, Sundar Shilpkar, Ramdutt Mishra, Dumbar Mishra, composer Ashok Rai, Vasant Mukarung and others participated in the

journey.
