Established by the National Information Commission, the 'Vinay Kasju Best Information Activist Award' has been awarded to 5 people including journalists Taranath Dahal, Deepak Rizal and Gajendra Budhathoki.

On the occasion of the 18th Foundation Day of the National Information Commission, President Ramchandra Paudel held a press conference. Dahal, Rizal and Budhathoki were given the right to information activist award on Monday. Kasju is the founder chief commissioner of the commission. The commission established an award in his name.  Among the

awardees, Rizal and Budhathoki have been active in the field of journalism for three decades. Currently, Rizal is associated with Nepal Newspaper and Budhathoki Taksar Magazine which is focused on economics and politics. Dahal, who was active in journalism in the past, is currently affiliated with the Freedom Forum.

Similarly, Kavita Thapa and Hariram Konda have also been honored with the same award. Dahal received the Best Information Engineer award and four others received the Best Information Engineer award. The Best Information Officer award was given to Devi Prasad Thapalia, Information Officer of the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission, Keshav Silwal, Information Officer of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Padam Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer of District Post Office Chitwan, and Buddhiram Neupane, Information Officer of Chhatradeo Rural Municipality, Arghakhanchi, for their contribution in bringing the information of government/public bodies to the citizens easily.

The Information Commission has said that both journalists have been awarded this year's award for their excellent contribution through journalism to the protection and promotion of citizens' right to be informed, right to information. On the occasion of the Foundation Day, the Commission awarded Santosh Kumar Dahal, Sudardhan Dhakal, Dinesh Luintel and Ranjanakumari Dahal as best employees and Sitaram Basnet and Miley Tamang with incentive awards.
