Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has instructed the police to expand the scope of crime investigation in a new way saying that new dimensions of crime have been added. Addressing the inauguration program of the Nepal Police Staff Course in Kathmandu on Sunday, Home Minister Akbar gave instructions to expand the scope of crime investigation.
He said that the current criminal investigation of the Nepal Police is not enough and the scope of the investigation should be widened and peace and security should be maintained.
Although it is much better now than 25/30 years ago, he said that according to the new dimensions of crimes that have come in recent times, the police also need to proceed with the investigation in a new way. The Home Minister wrote instructions to the police to increase access to
investigations through new technology. He said, '25/30 years ago, I used to be a lawyer. In the course of advocacy, I have advocated in many criminal cases as well. I have found many differences between the research of that time and the research of today. It has been good. At that time, there would be many lapses in the police investigation, not only in the investigation, there would be many lapses in the prosecution as well, and what happens sometimes, that investigation is a paradise of lawyers for the defense lawyers. Speculative topics based on guesswork and suspicion have decreased. Authenticity, scientificity, solid evaluation of evidence I have seen things change. There are weaknesses, they have to be corrected. But it is not enough to do better. It has not reached that far. Because new things are coming. New subjects are entering. Whether it's law enforcement, new challenges, risks and issues, because the police is an important agency for law enforcement, law enforcement, crime control, investigating crimes, and moving forward by investigating crimes, we will prepare ourselves accordingly. He said that although the society is changing day by day and moving towards progress, the number of criminal activities is also increasing.
