Ratha Rahana of Red Matsyendranath today

Rato Matsyendranath, who is considered to be the god of grain and rain, is taking part in the chariot ride this evening at Pulchok. For the chariot ride, the priests of Matsyendranath went to Katuwal Daha at Devichaur in Lalitpur to bring the deity for the night on the day of Matatirtha Aunsi.

It is customary to bring the deity from the Katuwal daha after worshiping in the morning.

For Rathjatra, as a symbol of Trayodashi Bhuvan, based on thirteen floors and thirty-two signs, a thirty-two hand long chariot has been prepared in Pulchok using only cane and wood.

Jitendra Chitrakar, head of Guthi Sansthan Lalitpur branch, informed that Matsyendra Nath will be taken to Pulchok from the temple at Matsyendrabahal around 3 o'clock.

He said that Rs. 75 lakh allocated to make Matsyendranath's chariot was not enough, so an additional Rs. 1.5 lakh would be required. In the

Jatra, the historic Khadga of the 17th century king Siddhinar Singh Malla of Lalitpur is also covered with an umbrella and carried with state honours.

It is customary to carry the historical Khadga of the then King Narendradev of Bhaktapur from the Bhaktapur Palace to the temple of Matsyendranath while playing Naikkhi Baza and covering it with an umbrella.
