The Nepal National Hospital operating in Kalanki has paid a fine of 1 lakh rupees to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City after being negligent in hazardous waste management.

During the monitoring, the hospital did not manage the garbage and the metropolis paid the fine even after giving an opportunity for improvement.

After the complaints of the locals who were affected by the waste of the hospital, the metropolis conducted a monitoring on March 20 . Then a penalty letter was sent. After that, the city informed that the hospital paid the fine on March 29.

According to (k) and (l) of Section 51 of Environment and Natural Resource Protection Act 2077 issued by the metropolis, the hospital has been fined . According to this section, there is a provision that a fine of 50 thousand to 1 lakh rupees can be imposed on those who dispose, keep or dispose of chemical, industrial, health institution, hazardous waste or harmful waste.

If this offense is repeated, there is a provision that a written notice can be sent to the concerned agency to cancel the permit according to the prevailing law by imposing a fine of twice the fine imposed for the first time.
