A fire broke out in the forest of Matatirtha in Chandragiri municipality on Saturday morning.
According to the police at Matatirtha, the cause of the fire that started at 8:30 in the morning has not been revealed. The police said that efforts are being made to control the fire together with the locals.
The place where the fire broke out is near the Matatirtha temple and the tank. There is also a transmission line of the Electricity Authority passing through the site of the fire.
After about an hour, 40 people including 10 policemen and 30 locals brought the fire under control, said Chief of Matatirtha Police Station Ramesh Chaunlagai. He said that they are searching for the arsonist in the forest.
