District Police Complex Kathmandu has arrested 6 people including 3 policemen for being involved in robbery. Armed police assistant constable Rajendra Bahadur KC, 36, from Pyuthan, Khagendra Malla Thakuri, 35, from Banke, and Hira Mangrati, 24, from Khotang, have been arrested on the charge of being involved in the crime along with the robbers.
According to Superintendent of Police Appelraj Bohra, they along with 24-year-old Kapil Basnet of Morang, 31-year-old Sanjok Tamang of Dolakha and 20-year-old Manish Kumar Rai of Morang robbed cryptocurrency trader Roshan Gurung, 26, of Dhading.
'Roshan Gurung reported to the police on Monday that he was robbed,' Superintendent Bohra said, 'The police got involved in Baneshwar and robbed him on Monday. During the investigation, it has been revealed that Gurung is also a cryptocurrency trader.'
The three arrested policemen are roving (information gathering) policemen. It is said that they robbed Gurung of 14 lakh rupees, police identity card and handcuffs. The police have also said that Roshan Gurungal has traded one billion eighty seven crore rupees in cryptocurrency.
A case has been registered against the arrested Roshan Gurung for an offense related to immaterial currency, while the rest are being investigated for robbery-theft offenses by Kathmandu District Court with an extension of five days Superintendent Bohra informed.
The police recovered 12 lakh 10 thousand, 6 mobile phones and a vehicle from 6 people involved in the robbery, while two mobile phones, a laptop and 2 lakh 19 thousand rupees were recovered from Roshan Gurung.
