Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has said that drug control and prevention is not possible from a single agency.
Inspector General Kunwar said that Nepal Police should join the anti-narcotics campaign program which started on Saturday. He said that the joint cooperation of individuals, society, various professionals, political figures, social workers, parents, local bodies, society and stakeholders is indispensable for drug control.
With the active participation of different levels and sectors of the society in an equal manner, he informed that this great campaign has been started in Kathmandu Valley with the aim of envisaging a society free of drugs as a form of social disorder and crime. "The joint cooperation of individuals, society, various professionals, political figures, social workers, parents, local bodies, society and stakeholders is indispensable in drug control," he said, "with the aim of envisaging a drug-free society in the form of social disorder and crime with the active participation of different levels and sectors of society, this grand campaign is going to be launched in Kathmandu Valley." Inspector General Kunwar said. He said that about 80 percent of them are users of marijuana and drugs made from it.
Inspector General Kunwar also mentioned that the number of drug-related cases registered across the country is increasing by around 7 percent every fiscal year.
