Kathmandu Metropolitan City submitted the investigation record against MP Sharma to the Human Rights Commission

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has submitted its 120-page investigation file to the National Human Rights Commission in the case of Lumbini Member of Parliament Rekha Kumari Sharma holding a minor hostage.

A team including the child welfare officer of the Metropolitan Municipality told Murari Prasad Kharel, Secretary of the Commission, on Sunday. The records have been submitted.

Understanding the record, Secretary Kharel said that no person should misuse power and state power in the case of human rights violations. He assured that the Commission is aware to prevent children from falling victim to such incidents and promised to conduct a fair investigation.

After the government side decided not to pursue the case, the Commission started investigating MP Sharma. During that time, the Commission demanded documents related to the Metropolitan Corporation.

Dheeraj Joshi, a member of the Metropolitan Chief's Secretariat, has said that even the Attorney General has a conflict of interest in this case.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City registered a complaint through the Child Welfare Officer on the 30th of May last for crimes against children and crimes against enslavement. But  Public Prosecutor's Office, Kathmandu and High Public Prosecutor's Office, Patan decided not to prosecute Sharma in this case.

The Human Rights Commission has now said that the investigation will be more detailed. The commission has promised to conduct an impartial investigation and determine the course of legal action against the guilty.
