The Nepal Dalit Mukti Morcha has protested that the incidents of caste violence and discrimination against the Dalit community have not stopped. The Morcha staged a protest at Maitighar Mandla in Kathmandu on Thursday. Padam Bishwakarma, the vice president of the Morcha informed that the demonstration against untouchability, discrimination, oppression, murder, boycott, which is happening serially against the Dalit community.
According to him, the protest was also held as a pressure to address the basic issues and demands of the Dalit community from the state government. In the vigilance meeting held during the
protest, Central Member of CPN (Maoist Center) and faction in-charge of Morcha Parashuram Ramtel discussed that the process of amending the Election Act is backward compared to the current system and demanded a Dalit-friendly electoral system for the respectful representation of Dalits. President of
Morcha and former minister Daljit Sripali said that the KP Oli government is anti-Dalit while discussing that structural violence against the Dalit community will be reconciled, they will not be taken outside the circle of the family, they will be implicated in false cases, and the law will be ignored.
He regretted the involvement of the police administration and the Home Minister himself to free the legal couple of Satyendra Neha who had an inter-caste marriage, and formed an inquiry committee to punish the culprits and demanded the protection of the victim couple. The
demonstration was attended by Morcha's advisor and Constituent Assembly member Vinod Pahadi, General Secretary Shankar Dulal.
